DAISY Award Recipient

For “compassion, humor, patience, and kindness” RN Carla Smith has received the DAISY Award for the devoted care she provides at our Care Center.

Carla was nominated by Debra Brooks, whose mother was a resident at the Care Center. “My mom loved her, and so does our family!”

With this award, Carla joins a global community of exemplary nurses. The DAISY Award was founded over 20 years ago and is celebrated at thousands of healthcare organizations. “It’s an incredible honor,” reflects Carla. “The DAISY Foundation is a lovely organization.”

Says Heather Finch, director of nursing and the Care Center, “Carla’s leadership and collaborative spirit make her an invaluable asset to our team and a critical contributor to our standard of care.”

Adds Tori Probst, chief nursing officer and nursing home administrator, “Whether it’s painting a resident’s nails in between medication passes or getting to know a resident’s family personally, Carla is dedicated to supporting the residents, their loved ones, and her team members with genuine care.”

For Carla, it’s the connections formed that make her work so meaningful. “You develop a relationship with the residents and their families. It’s generational. The Care Center is a wonderful place and an important part of the community.”

Thank you Carla for being a bright spot at the Care Center!
