Marsha McKim is on the up and up, with support from Star Valley Health Physical Therapy
Marsha has worked with our physical therapy (PT) team on numerous occasions since 2017 during recovery from various surgeries and health events.
Marsha first encountered Star Valley Health Physical Therapy through her father-in-law, who worked through PT for age related conditions. The PT team organized a celebration for his 100th birthday, complete with a cake and surprise visits from friends in the community.
“He was so touched by that,” says Marsha. “It just made his day. That gave me a really good impression about the therapy department, that they would do something so kind and thoughtful.”
Throughout her life, Marsha has enjoyed outdoor activities like hiking and gardening. But several operations, along with a heart attack and stroke, have created mobility challenges. Marsha has engaged with PT at our Thayne clinic and with home PT sessions. “I’ve worked with so many of the PTs over the years, and they’ve all been so friendly and helpful,” says Marsha. “I’ve enjoyed every single one of them.”
For many PT patients, the emotional and mental hurdles are just as daunting to overcome as the physical ones. But even on tough days, Marsha found strength. “They’re just always saying, ‘That’s great. You did great on that.’ You’re hopeful that if you keep trying and practicing, you’re going to improve.”
And that road to restoration starts with timely PT care. Marsha encourages others to pick up the phone: “I think a lot of people just carry on, and walk with difficulty, and are miserable. They don’t realize how much help they can get from going to physical therapy. I can’t encourage people strongly enough. If you’re hurting, go check it out.”
Marsha reflects on the PTs who have helped her move more confidently through her every day: “They’ve just given me hope, and encouraged me, and helped me feel good about myself.”
