Pre-op/PACU RN Cindy Whitney has received the DAISY award for her compassionate nursing care.

It’s a full-circle moment for Cindy, as she was drawn to nursing through the care she received from an extraordinary nurse after a type 1 diabetes diagnosis. “She was kind, patient, and empathetic,” reflects Cindy. “All of the things that make a huge difference. I thought, ‘Oh, I think I want to do this.’”

Cindy was nominated by Ashley Hall, whose son was cared for by Cindy in our post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). “From the moment he arrived, Cindy was fully present, attentive, and deeply invested in his comfort and well-being,” reads Ashley’s nomination. “Cindy embodies the heart, skill, and spirit that the DAISY Award celebrates.”

Says OR manager Teancum Guild, “Cindy supports patients and families through calm, thorough care. She has exceptional attention to detail and takes pride in doing things the right way, helping patients feel safe and confident in our care.”

Thousands of healthcare facilities around the world honor their nurses through the DAISY Award. Cindy says “Knowing that I’ve become one of them inspires me to always choose to try harder, be better, and learn more.”
