Booking Your Appointment: What to Expect

For many, the thought of knee surgery and a possible long recovery can be daunting – but the benefits of treatment far outweigh its challenges. Rather than living with constant pain and risking further damage to your musculoskeletal system, receiving care is a critical first step in restoring your range of motion.

Your treatment and recovery can vary greatly, depending on the severity of your injury. Typically, your appointment will start with an initial X-ray to assess the situation. You may receive steroid shots to reduce pain and inflammation, or an MRI for further evaluation. We offer in-house MRIs to gain a full picture of your condition and determine the best route for care.

We provide a broad scope of procedures and treat an array of knee conditions, including:

  • Knee replacement
  • Meniscal tears
  • ACL injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Fractures
  • Ligament reconstruction

We seek to provide exceptional care, and ROSA can help bring your knee replacement to the next level. ROSA – or Robotic Surgical Assistant – enhances the surgical process by strengthening precision and providing key data to guide the procedure. Your surgeon is still leading the operation, with ROSA’s support. Contact our team to find out more about our robotic technology offerings.

Pro Tips to Navigate Post-Op

If your road to restoration includes surgery, know that recovery time can also vary greatly. For example, you may experience pain for 4-8 weeks following joint replacement surgery, but it can take nearly up to a year for all aches and pains to diminish.

Progress may seem slow, but you’ll get there! For more insights on post-surgery recovery, check out our guide to casts and braces.  And regardless of your procedure, here are some general best practices for optimal healing:

  • Keep your dressing clean and dry
  • Hold off on driving for as long as your doctor advises
  • Avoid lifting heavy objects while in recovery
  • Be diligent with medication and physical therapy
  • Stay hydrated and eat a healthy diet

It’s also critical to be aware of red flags after your surgery. If you experience a high fever, bleeding at the incision site, rash, chest pain, or if you’ve fallen, call our office right away. If it’s an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.
