At Star Valley Health, testing is open to the public, without a written referral from your provider. Please note, testing supplies are in high demand nationwide and we may need to reserve supplies for those patients that are symptomatic or in a more vulnerable demographic.

Currently, as COVID cases have increased, Star Valley Health only offers testing to patients who are displaying symptoms or are scheduled for surgery.  For your convenience, we have COVID Testing Centers at the north and south ends of Star Valley, as well as Bridger Valley.

If you have insurance:

It is always a good idea to contact your insurance to be sure of COVID testing coverage, as it evolves rapidly with all insurance providers.

  • Some private insurers, including Humana, Cigna, UnitedHealth Group, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield system, have agreed to waive cost-sharing payments for COVID-19 treatment for insured patients. Please contact your insurance provider to ensure your coverage.
  • Triwest/VA – Please call your insurance as they may or may not cover COVID testing.  You may be eligible for a free COVID test, however there may be requirements to test at only at certain facilities which may or may not include Star Valley Health.
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield – Please see the BCBS website for COVID as they have recently changed the way they pay on COVID tests and treatment.

For most insurance plans, we will attempt to bill your insurance. You may be responsible for your co-pay or deductible amount. Private insurers generally must waive an insurance plan member’s cost-sharing payments for COVID-19 diagnostic testing and certain related items and services, however, please note that if your health plan denies this charge, you will receive a bill for the service.

If you do not have insurance:

There are options for getting a COVID- 19 test free of charge if you are uninsured.

  • The State of Wyoming Department of Health has partnered with VAULT, Infinity Bioloix, and Spectrum Solutions to offer a FREE, at home, saliva testing kit.  Although the site shows a cost of $119, this cost is waived with a Wyoming zipcode Click here to go to vaulthealth.com/covid.
  • If you are uninsured and receive COVID-19-related testing and/or treatment services, your provider may submit a claim to the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) for reimbursement of these services. You must not have any medical coverage (Insurance or Medical Sharing Plans).  The US Department of Health and Human Service (HSS) will provide claims reimbursement to healthcare providers under certain circumstances.  This is not a reimbursement to patients. Providers who participate in and are reimbursed from the HRSA COVID-19 Uninsured Program are not allowed to “balance bill” individuals who do not have health care coverage (uninsured).
To be eligible for coverage under the HRSA claim, you must provide SV Health with your Full Name, Date of Birth, Social Security Number, Gender, and Address.
