Courtney and Josh Smith welcomed Thomas last summer at Star Valley Health.

The Smiths are fairly new to the valley and had talked about moving to Wyoming for years. As they weighed their decisions, Courtney describes living near a hospital as “Everything.”

Says Courtney, “The number one thing that I had on my list with moving to Wyoming, was having medical access close to home. If there’s an emergency, we have a hospital right here to take care of us. And it made me happy knowing that if we were going to have more kids, there was an OB doctor at the hospital.”

There was another big draw to our community, too: “Just driving through the valley was another big selling point. It’s absolutely beautiful.”

Courtney received her prenatal care with our OB/GYN, Dr. Donald Howser. She describes these services as a critical part of the pregnancy journey. “I found it so reassuring to go to an appointment and hear Thomas’ heartbeat and know that it was strong. And God forbid, if there was any type of issue, we could have a game plan.”

Thankfully, Courtney’s pregnancy and delivery were smooth sailing. Dr. Clayton Brown delivered Thomas in August, and Thomas is now receiving his well-child care with Dr. Chris Morgan. Says Courtney, “I can’t say enough positive things about the services that I’ve received at Star Valley Health, and the care and compassion that they have doing their job. They were so supportive.”
